Coffee Wine?
Sometimes I catch people coming into the tasting room while they are yawning.
Funny, I think, these people are barely awake and they want to sip a beverage known for its relaxing attributes.
"Would you like some coffee-wine?" I offer.
The question usually perks them up and snaps them out of their road-weary "1000-mile stare."
Of course, I'm joking. There is no coffee-wine that I'm aware of (I've heard of tequila wine, but consider it an abomination--unless you are forced to make wine margaritas, but still...).
I love coffee and I have consumed excessive amounts of it (black), every morning since the age of 11. And until reading this article today, I figured a connection between the roasted bean and the fermented grape was impossible. So, imagine my joy upon reading the following in today's news:
"In a study of more than 125,000 people, one cup of coffee per day cut the risk of alcoholic cirrhosis by 20 percent. Four cups per day reduced the risk by 80 percent. The coffee effect held true for women and men of various ethnic backgrounds."
Don't get me wrong. I'm not advocating anything here. Life is about moderation and balance. All I'm saying is that I'm big fan of scientific research.
