Tonight’s Theme: Green

Oz Barron

“March 17”

Oz shares his story about playing in the band Lucky Sons of St Patrick on Evacuation Day aka St Patrick’s Day.  It’s not exactly clear to anyone if members of the band are Irish.  Irish music making, drinking and merriment ensue.

Bev Praver

“The Dress”

Bev goes to the symphony wearing an emerald green velvet dress with satin sash and a white lace collar.  The experience overwhelmed her.

Michele Pike

“Grrrr!”

While sitting alone under a pine tree in the woods Michele meets a bear.  Facing her worst fears, Michele retells the conversation with the bear yelling at him to go away.  It’s possible she’s hurt the bear’s feelings.

Bob Kasper

"The Garth Story”

Bob tells the story of his Irish college roommate who has a name like no other.  One day Garth’s parents were caught by surprise seeing on TV their son celebrating at a famous LA bar.

Carol

"Green Behind the Ears"

On a work assignment in Istanbul in the 1979, one evening, after hanging out with smoking fiends all day, Carol steps outside the hotel for some fresh air.  Standing in a park alone behind a tree, two military police officers approach Carol and take her on an adventure.

Andy Pickar

"Eyes Wide Open for This Green Behind the Ears Traveler"

Andy goes to Israel in 1976 and misses July 4th celebrations at home. Instead, he celebrates current events as news of the successful raid on Entebbe makes its way through the community.  Later that summer, Andy has an exasperating conversation using his limited Hebrew with a woman who pulls his leg but will not let him fail.

Bob Kasper

“BSing My Way Onto the Greatest Golf Shot I’ve Ever Had”

Bob schools us on the beginning of golf at “The Old Course” in St Andrews Scotland, a course reserved for only respectable golfers.   Bob cons his way onto the waitlist, and after hanging out all day, Bob gets to play.  On the 18th hole, Bob has the shot of his lifetime, and gets the admiration of a large group of onlookers.

Bev Praver

“Music on the Emerald Isle”

Bev and Jerry visit Ireland to chase the music.  They roam the countryside to find a cottage with a red door where they hope to find great “traditional” music.
